The MB Petroleum Services Research & Development (MBPS R&D) department provides high-tech production solutions to the Oil & Gas industry. MBPS R&D provides clients with suitable customized solutions to their conventional and unconventional production problems to improve performance cost effectively and responsibly, ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental integrity is uncompromised.

MBPS R&D provides its clients with a rich portfolio of new technologies and integrated products and services in the areas of Exploration and Production (E&P), drilling operations, well services, well testing services, artificial lift systems and self-optimizing pumping systems.

Our combined 80 years' experience in the industry along with the expertise of many outstanding engineers help us to solve the seemingly insolvable problems encountered in the Oil & Gas industry in a responsible and cost effective manner.

MBPS R&D has pioneered new technologies, which are first of their kind, such as ‘Live well Intervention platform’, ‘Fully automated self optimizing sucker rod pumps’ and ‘MB Flow Master’ to accurately measure oil, water and gas flow rates, fluid densities and water cuts without using any radioactive source material.

The department strives to improve production efficiency, develop innovative methodologies to boost hydrocarbon productivity of existing oil and gas fields, and pioneering new feasible technologies. These new technology solutions, which can enhance productivity of oil and gas, include:


Live Well Intervention Platform (LWIP)
LWIP is an in-house engineered, designed and fabricated platform structure, which enables live well entry and live surveillance to be carried out effectively.

Self-optimizing Beam Pump
Fully automated self-optimizing beam pumping unit, which enables continuous, maximum production, least production deferment and less operator’s intervention, hence making it safer and cost effective.

Online Multiphase Flow Meter (MB Flow Master)
The MB Flow Master is a non-nuclear, versatile, multi phase flow meter designed for true field conditions. It provides accurate, real-time measurements of oil, water and gas flow simultaneously. The real-time data capabilities of these meters allow for optimization of all types of critical production enhancement techniques. The small footprint and ease of operation make it an ideal instrument for online portable well testing.

High Capacity Sand Tolerant Sucker Rod pump
The field proven special plungers sizes (2”-5”) are reputed as most sand production tolerant pumps and can operate in severe abrasive conditions. These pumps can produce any rate between 50m3/d and 1000 m3/d.

Deep-set Sucker Rod Pumping
It is a friction type sucker rod driven pump, which can be set at a depth of (≥ 3000 meters) efficiently. The pump can operate at a very high stroke length of up to 7.3 meters with built in flexibility of stroke length variation. The surface unit can be isolated from the wellhead by a simple built-in slide mechanism, which makes it very cost-effective during workover.

Water Shut-off
Reservoir water shut-off service in both carbonate and sandstone reservoirs. We can shut-off in matrix and fractured reservoirs.
